2024 Edom Art Festival – Our Public Debut
The link below is to a great video highlighting the Edom Art Festival by Scot Miller. You will see us about 43 seconds in!
The Edom ART Lab made its’ public debut on October 12th and 13th during the 2024 Edom Art Festival by hosting an improvisational puppet theater.
What a warm and wonderful welcome we received!
The kids were amazing and more accepted our puppet talent scout Fred’s invitation to become puppeteers than didn’t. Sadly, we lost track of the exact number of performances performed, but we do know that it exceeded 25.
A few puppeteers overcame some significant shyness to perform while others couldn’t wait to get their hands on the microphone, and yet every single puppeteer put on a performance to be remembered.
What outstanding and incredible imaginations kids have!
The welcoming and attentive audience were the recipients of some incredible and hilarious one-of-a-kind stories.
The puppeteers first selected their puppet and named them. Next, they chose random locations and actions from buckets behind stage. Then by collaborating with the other puppeteer(s), they created a one-of-a-kind, never-heard-before story which after a little practice, they told using the puppet characters they created.
Stories were shared about an average day at the grocery store where puppets were looking for lost treasure and picking up supplies because their family was in the process of moving to the moon. Underground cities were discovered while riding on a cruise ship in the swamp. Covered wagons were taken to London so fun houses and fire stations could be opened. Room cleaning machines invented by puppets went haywire and turned into spaceships. Unknown siblings were discovered via time machines and vines grown from magic seeds. Incredible stuff and fun was had by all.
At the end of the event, Fred was trying to count up all the thanks we received from the kids and their family members as well as the many positive general comments about the Edom ART Lab and well, he finally gave up and said if we had a dollar for each one, we could probably buy that building we want to buy!
We thank the community and attendees of the Edom Art Festival for validating our mission, vision and for supporting us!
